I am a part time nerd, part time chef and full time whiner. Did I type whiner? I meant winner...no wait, I whine a lot. I've worked in High Tech and Television and a few places in between. I've eaten fire roasted snakes and hand fulls of peeps (not in the same sitting of course). I'd like to share my experiences, so read on.

Technology: Microsoft and Adware Maker Danger

Microsoft has a spyware removal tool in for XP users. More recently, they have been in talks to purchase company called Claria. They deal in Spyware, Adware and the like. You may remember Claria as Gator, the most infamous spyware of them all.

Recently, MS turned off it's removal of Claria's software in it's Adware tool. So now, the company that used to make the worst virus like adware software, isn't being removed on any computer using Microsoft's Own software, and isn't it strange they were just in negotiations for a purchase? Will they be bought? Did they lobby Microsoft somehow? Is it easy to do this? Can a company with enough money tell the worlds largest software maker to allow adware to be installed? This could lead to a sticky situation. Since we have little choice in the matter of Operating Systems, what MS does affects millions of computers. Thankfully there are many free alternatives to MS that will remove these dangerous applications, such as SpyBot, Adaware and SpywareBlaster.
